Dick Taylor, MD, served as interim Chief Medical Information Officer for a $7B integrated healthcare delivery system from November, 2015 to June, 2018. In that role he oversaw the expansion and formalization of the role of clinical informaticians in the system, spearheaded numerous critical projects, and oversaw day-to-day activities in the clinical systems supporting the organization.
During Dr. Taylor’s tenure, this long-time Epic customer increased their Epic Star Rating substantially, maintained their unprecedented record of availability and up-time, and achieved HIMSS Stage 7 status for both inpatient and ambulatory EMR usage. Additionally, Dr. Taylor was critically involved in Epic implementations at new sites of care and for new Epic modules, oversaw deployment of multiple safety technologies, and sponsored adoption of critical new mobile technologies including EPCS (electronic prescribing for controlled substances).
