Tom Welch started his career in healthcare IT as an assistant project manager working for a large network of health clinics in central Iowa. He then transitioned to working for Cerner Corporation, where he was selected for the Next Generation Leadership program. Through that program, Welch was able to broaden his skill set by working in various roles including: foreign systems integration, PharmNet consulting, client instruction, software release management, and project management. Those roles led him to sites across the United States as well as to the UK, where he helped initiate Cerner's learning services department abroad.
After several years of successfully managing multiple client projects concurrently, Welch moved into the consulting realm. In consulting, Welch has worked for both large and small healthcare institutions (hospitals and clinics), managing a variety of projects as well as helping them build and improve their project management offices and IT organizations.
In addition to his Cerner project experience, Welch has direct management experience with system implementations of Soarian, EPIC, McKesson, Allscripts, Sunquest, PowerScribe, Dragon, Healthland, NextGen, GE, & Philips.
Welch is PMP certified, holds an MBA degree from the University of Phoenix, and a BS degree in Management Information Systems from Iowa State University.
