President, Co-founder and CEO
Alan Kravitz, President, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, manages and oversees overall strategic leadership and operations, with emphasis on client relationships and sales initiatives, as well as executive participation in recruiting of the top talent in the industry. As the strategic leader for the organization, he is responsible for developing the organization strategic initiatives for expansion. With over eighteen years of Healthcare Information Technology experience, his relationships and knowledge served to establish MedSys as a leader in Healthcare IT Consulting..read more »His career in Healthcare IT began in 1994 when he founded CAP Associates, a nationwide Healthcare Information Technology recruiting firm. After several years of continued growth in EMR recruiting, in 1998 he expanded operations by founding Genesys Group, a technology focused solutions provider in staff augmentation, IT outsourcing and managed services. Using a developed model, he founded MedSys Group Consulting in 2008 to service the ever-growing needs to the healthcare technology market. Kravitz attributes the company success to the devoted work of the dedicated leadership team, as well as the principles under which the organization operates; Respect, Honesty, Trust, Commitment and Communication. “Our accomplishments are not defined or driven by just a few, but by realizing everyone’s combined contributions at all levels of the organization. Keeping it simple, doing business with the golden rule in mind, and focusing on client communication and service will fuel our continued success and growth.” Kravitz earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and Marketing from The University of Missouri. Mark Embry, Co-founder and EVP of Client Development, aids in the development of strategies for expansion of MedSys through joint ventures and other cooperation with Partner Organizations.read more »With over a decade of healthcare technology experience, he has forged strategic relationships with major healthcare IT vendors and partners across the EMR market. He has been instrumental in solidifying partnerships across the EMR market with companies such as Cerner Corporation, ACS, Healthcare, Epic Systems Corporation, Siemens Healthcare, and DELL Healthcare. His prior industry experience includes serving as a major account executive for TekSystems, one of the leading providers of IT solutions to the US market. Embry credits his success in business to the hiring of quality individuals who surround a committed leadership team. "Our goal is to empower our employees to create success by aligning the company's business goals with their individual goals. We believe that if we can inspire personal growth among our team members, business success will follow." Embry has a BA in Business Marketing from Baylor University. Chairman of the BoardSteven Heck, Chairman of the Board, assists company President, Co-Founder, & CEO, Alan Kravitz, with strategic and operational initiatives. In his previous role as President, Heck formed and led the MedSys Group Advisory Services division. He also helped transform the practice to a consulting firm that supports clients with executive level advisory services and the continuum of IT talent acquisition services. The company’s distinguished history in recruiting and staffing services accelerated their ability to adjust to rapid changes in market demand.read more »Due to his reputation for specializing in technology planning, executive advisory services, outsourcing agreements and benchmarking, many of the country’s leading healthcare organizations seek his leadership and advice with investment, planning and deployment strategies. Heck has functioned in a variety of executive leadership roles at professional services firms including CEO, President and Partner. He has also served as an expert witness on numerous IT related litigation cases. During his career, he has worked with dozens of the most sophisticated health systems in the country. Heck started his career as a software engineer, designer and project manager. He joined Price Waterhouse as a Senior Consultant in 1977 and moved into the healthcare practice in 1979. Steven became one of the first industry specialist Partners in 1985 and was responsible for all healthcare consulting services in the Great Lakes Region. Steven joined First Consulting Group (FCG) as a Regional Vice President and stayed with the firm for nearly twenty years as EVP, COO, President and Interim CEO. FCG grew from $6M in annual revenue to $275M during his tenure there. In 1997, CHIME was surveyed and 43% of provider CIO’s identified FCG as the best IT planning firm in the industry. FCG was named the “Best in KLAS” professional services firm in 2005. Since 2007, Steven has stayed very active as an expert witness in major outsourcing litigations; with performance improvement projects; and as a client services partner transitioning application portfolios to meet ARRA requirements. In addition, Heck is active on the Scottsdale Institute and HIMSS Analytics boards. He has a passion for effective IT Governance and a strong belief that technology related investments must yield more obvious and quantifiable benefits in the future. Dick Taylor, MD
Managing Director and Chief Medical OfficerDick Taylor, MD, is the Managing Director and Chief Medical Officer of the Advisory Services Division. In his position, Dr. Taylor focuses on integrating IT efforts with the clinical and operational ownership needed to capture permanent and positive changes within healthcare institutions.read more »
Dr. Taylor’s career started in software engineering, working for numerous high technology firms from 1978 to 1994. He was a developer for operating systems, designed high-availability and embedded software, helped write educational computing systems, and did user interface research. Dr. Taylor led software development teams, customer support groups, and applications engineers. In 1994, Dr. Taylor gave up full-time software engineering to enter medical school.
He received his M.D. from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1998, and completed a three-year pediatric residency at The Children’s Hospital of Denver (now Children’s Hospital of Colorado) in 2001. Dr. Taylor has practiced as a pediatric hospitalist with Kaiser Permanente, managed FDA-approved medical device development projects, and served as a physician executive for McKesson Corporation. In early 2008, Dr. Taylor joined Providence Health and Services as the Chief Medical Information Officer for the Oregon region. In 2010, he accepted the role of Chief Program Officer, forming and leading Providence's Epic Implementation team. In 2012, while continuing with this role, Dr. Taylor also became Providence's Chief for IS Strategy and Business Development. In May 2013, he left Providence to take his current role.
A native of Colorado and a resident at various times of Minnesota, Oregon, and Washington, Dr. Taylor currently lives in the Denver area with his wife and the youngest of his six children.» Close
Chief Financial OfficerAs Chief Financial Officer, Nancy Ellefson is responsible for the day-to-day workings of accounting, finance, human resources and information technology in addition to risk and cash management for the organization. In addition she will implement and maintain systems, policies, and procedures that provide the necessary support for internal operations as well as field employees and contractors. Ellefson is also responsible for the overall financial well being of the company through financial planning and analysis of results.read more »Prior to joining MedSys, her 30 plus years of experience includes serving as CFO of Preferred Restaurant Services and APEX Restaurant Group, Vice President of Finance for Furr’s Restaurant Group and Pizza Inn, Controller for numerous public and privately held companies, as well as a financial analyst with two major healthcare systems, Barnes Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Ellefson is a certified public accountant with four years of public accounting experience with Laventhol and Horwath in St. Louis, which had an extensive hospital practice. » Close
Chairman of the Audit and Compensation Committees
Luther Nussbaum serves at Chairman of the Audit and Compensation Committees. Nussbaum is active in operational improvement and developing the strategic road map for the Firm as a member of the Executive Committee. He previously served as Chairman of the Board from January 2013 until the close of 2014.Additionally, he serves as a mentor to the leadership team. With vast experience in healthcare, high tech and other industries, Nussbaum brings innovative ideas and the application of breakthrough solutions to this inspiring vision.read more »Nussbaum is the semi-retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of First Consulting Group. During his decade-long tenure at FCG, the company increased eightfold in size, expanded its service offerings from consulting and systems implementation to management services and software products and led the industry in utilizing worldwide resources in India and Vietnam to achieve a very low cost, high quality project-delivery model. In addition to his managerial roles, Nussbaum has served as an active and creative Board member, Advisory Board member or mentor with a dozen companies. He has hired or mentored more than forty executives who are now Chief Executive Officers of a broad array of companies. As an executive, Nussbaum was a VP, President, COO and CEO of a handful of high technology and healthcare services companies. Mr. Nussbaum received his B.A. from Rhodes College where he was elected into Phi Beta Kappa and his M.B.A. from Stanford University where he was named an Arjay Miller Scholar. » Close
Nancy Miracle, RN
Senior Strategic Advisor
Nancy Miracle, RN, is the Senior Strategic Advisor of the Advisory Services Division. In her position, Nancy works with clients across the country to solve clinical, financial, and operational process issues arising from a rapidly changing technology driven environment.read more »Nancy’s career began in Critical Care, specializing in Cardiology, and led her to learn the ‘business side’ of health care through Case Management. Moving into the technology realm, she learned about EMR, electronic data and data warehousing from the ground up at Cerner Corporation, earning numerous awards and certifications. Her career progressed with a move to CareScience, focusing on data driven care standards and regulatory requirements. At CareScience, Nancy had an opportunity to work with David Brailer, MD, PhD, first National Coordinator for Health Information Technology for George W.Bush, and participate in the prototype for current day RHIO. Recognizing the impact government would have on healthcare, Nancy was selected as a member of the HITSP committee, the CCHIT committee, and has served as an examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Prior to her current role, Nancy was Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Phoenix Health Systems, where her focus was on helping providers – from critical access hospitals to integrated networks – identify, define, and then solve problems surrounding the delivery of care in a technology world – while maintaining fiscal efficiencies and regulatory requirements. » Close
Senior StrategistMeg Grimes is a Senior Strategist of the Strategic Advisory Services Division. In her position, Grimes focuses on helping customers attain more value from their EHRs by identifying ways for improved workflow, adoption and value realization.read more »Grimes began her more than seven-year career at Epic helping customers implement EpicCare Ambulatory, the clinical outpatient product. She quickly progressed into leading complex, large-scale electronic health record implementations in Canada and the US. She has a deep understanding of balancing EHR capabilities, with organizational goals, while always maintaining patient care as the primary goal for any software implementation. She also has the unique ability to work with executives on their overall visions and dive into the details to ensure their vision is being met. » Close
Director of Operations and Company OfficerAs Director of Operations and Officer of the Company, Ann Bartnik manages the company's everyday operational activities ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently and are aligned with the company's business goals and objectives. In addition, Bartnik oversees the operational sales and recruiting processes, leads the process improvement team and manages the administrative sales support team for IT Project Staffing and Advisory Services.read more »Her experience includes over 16 years of sales and marketing in the apparel industry and executive management in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining MedSys, she was Director of Development for Methodist Richardson Medical Center where she was responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive financial support program for a 205 bed hospital complex. Her executive responsibilities included setting the overall direction for the foundation, and execution of fundraising campaigns and the coordination of 29 board members and 300+ community volunteers. Bartnik is a graduate of The University of North Texas with a Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing. She currently resides in Dallas, and is married with three children. » Close
Director of Public RelationsGretchen Hydo, Director of Public Relations, works closely with the Strategy Management Team to implement innovative communication practices. Hydo is responsible for driving the company’s public relations, media relations and messaging initiatives.read more »With over 15 years of public relations and communications experience, Hydo has spent years building established media contacts and is highly regarded among the press and her colleagues for her outside of the box thinking and proven pitching record. Hydo has helped to successfully launch and brand products, magazines, businesses, and restaurants and has helped her clients elevate their status by positioning them as thought leaders and highly sought after field experts. Since 2001, She has successfully run and managed her own boutique PR company, Chatterbox Public Relations, Ink. Hydo is accredited in public relations from UCLA and has a BA in Speech Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from California State University Northridge. When she isn’t busy getting MedSys superstar publicity, she can be found on the beaches of Hawaii or adventuring with her husband and two sons in one of California’s campgrounds. » Close

John Nyhart, Vice President of Client Services, is responsible for the management of IT Project Staffing business in all regions of the country. He is responsible for the development of Client Services Managers in all regions. Nyhart is also a member of the strategy management team which is comprised of the core leadership of the organization. He also participates in the process improvement team.read more »
His experience includes seventeen years within healthcare staffing and recruiting, with nine years specialized in Healthcare IT consulting services. His management experience includes both public and private companies. Prior to joining MedSys, he was a Senior Director at the largest publically traded physician recruiting firm in the US. His experience in Healthcare IT recruiting began in 1995, when he joined CAP Associates where he was promoted to Vice President within five years. John is a thought leader in Healthcare IT and has written articles for the Wall Street Journal on staffing.
